Coreopsis Description:
Commonly known as Tickseed and Pot of Gold, Coreopsis is known for its colourful, daisylike flowers. They are extremely easy to grow and have a long blooming period. The petals make in interesting contrast with red, pink, white and yellow petals and dark brown or maroon centers. They can be grown in meadows and make a good addition in cut flowers.

- Sow Coreopsis seeds in well drained and soil and in a full sun location.
- Cover the seeds lightly with soil as they need light to germinate.
- Seeds germinate within 21 to 28 days, so water them regularly.
- The Coreopsis plants can also be started from cuttings during spring to mid-summer.
- Coreopsis self-grows prolifically.
- Coreopsis blooms well when it is crowded.
- Cut back by 1/3 to keep in flower.
- Avoid self-sowing by discarding spent flower heads.
- Sow additional seeds every few weeks for continuous bloom.
- Since plant self sows and it requires staking.
- Mahogany Midget is a very dwarf variety. It grows 8 to 12” tall with 2” wide deep red flowers and yellow centers.
- Mardi Gras is very dwarf and grows 8” tall. Its petals are deep red with yellow tips, and yellow centers. They are both compact and showy.
